The Mavs fell to the Suns on Sunday, 126 -104 to halt their win streak at 9 games. However the Mavericks still have the best record in basketball at 61-12. Phoenix on the other hand has gone 6-4 over their last ten games, but bounced back with a huge win over Dallas. The Suns do not have an easy road ahead to end the season, playing the Lakers twice, Utah, Houston and San Antonio. The Mavericks do not face a much easier road, playing Utah, San Antonio, Denver and Golden State. In the race for the last two playoff spots to play Dallas and Phoenix, the Denver Nuggets and the L.A. Clippers sit at the 7th and 8th spots of the playoffs. While they certainly do not have a chance against Dallas or the Suns, the race for the last spot in the Western Conference playoffs is certainly an exciting one.

Meanwhile, the Eastern Conference race is heating up. Detroit and Cleveland still sit atop of the Conference, while Toronto has jumped to third and the Bulls have dropped to fifth. Shaq and the Heat are now 5 games over .500 and sit at 39-34, sixth in the East. The defending NBA champions are certainly a team that no one wants to face in the playoffs, especially if Dwayne Wade can come back. Detroit defeated Miami on Sunday 94-88 in a close game at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Rip Hamilton came back to score 18 points and keep Detroit at the top spot in the East. However the Pistons will be tested this week on Wednesday and Sunday when they play Chicago then the Cavs. Cleveland faces a tough road to the playoffs, playing Miami on Thursday before traveling to Washington and Detroit on Friday and Sunday. Certainly these games will have quite the outcome on the Eastern Conference race.

Greg Oden is certainly making his case to be the number one draft pick as he has led Ohio St. to the National Title game against Florida. Whichever team happens to win the lottery will surely be happy to draft Oden.
