The Western Conference is out of control as the race to the playoffs and the number one seed out West continues. After defeating Dallas in perhaps the best game of the season, a 129-127 double overtime thriller, the Phoenix Suns lost by double digits to both Detroit and Denver. Dallas rebounded from back to back losses to defeat Boston and Detroit. After a thirteen game win streak the Spurs lost back to back games to lowly Milwaukee and Boston, who ended an 18 game losing streak to the Spurs. Meanwhile, Kobe is making an MVP run after torching the Blazers for 65 and the Timberwolves 50 and Lebron and the Cavs keep pushing Detroit for the best record in the East.

In what potentially could be the game of the year in the NBA, Steven Nash (32 points, 16 assists and 8 rebounds) and Amare Stoudamire (41 points, 11 rebounds) led the Suns past Dirk's Mavs, 129-127 in two overtimes. Nash showed why he is the two time MVP and poised to win a third, as he scored ten points in the last minute of the game, including a three point shot that tied the game with 2.7 seconds left. The Suns erased a fifteen point lead in the fourth quarter, helped by both their accurate shooting and the Mav's poor free throw shooting. The heartbreaking loss for the Mav's was their first home loss since December 7th and was the first time they lost back to back games since the beginning of the season. The two teams meet again on April Fools Day in Phoenix in a game that should rival this one.

The Spurs remain locked in the third spot in the Western Conference despite loses to the Bucks and Celtics. After a thirteen game win streak, the Spurs have dropped two straight and look to rebound this week against Indiana, Detroit and Seattle. Utah sits three games behind the Spurs, followed by Houston, the Lakers, Denver and Golden State. The Lakers have been a streaky team as of late. Prior to Kobe's ridiculous performances that resulted in wins over Portland and Minnesota, the Lakers had dropped 7 games and looked close to dead. However these two wins have revived them and they look to continue their wining ways as they face Memphis twice, Golden State and Oklahoma City.

The Cavs are on an 8 game winning streak and are challenging the Pistons for the top spot in the East. They are currently 1.5 games behind. Lebron has led the Cavs over the course of this win streak, scoring over 30 points in five of the games. The Cavs have averaged over 103 points during the win streak and need to continue this high scoring attack if they want to keep winning.

Dallas plays Cleveland on Wednesday on ESPN and Detroit plays San Antonio on Friday, so check these games out during your break from March Madness.
