The Insanity that is College Basketball in March

With the major conference tournaments happening this week through the weekend, I am going to make some bold predictions on who the winners will be from the six major conferences. Why? Because I can and because I am always correct. So if you don't want to know the winners before the tournaments take place, don't keep reading.

We'll start with the PAC 10 because it's so far away and it's boring because I'm picking the first place Bruins to win the tourney. Aaron Afflalo is sick nasty with it, and UCLA will conveniently be playing in their backyard at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. LA is also home to such famous people as Jack Nicholson, my sister, and Tim Livingston. What a place.

As we make our way east, we hit the vast expanse which is the Big 12. Comprised of schools from places where nobody lives and some schools from Texas, I have little interest in it. However, Kevin Durant from Texas is probably going to be the player of the year so that's cool I guess. I for one think Texas is always overrated and that Kansas is the best team in the conference, but Durant reminds me of Carmelo Anthony the way he carries his team. So I pick Texas to win it.

Oh the Big Ten. First of all, you aren't that big. You have ten teams, which is actually pretty small. Second, you are more top heavy than Anna Nicole Smith (too soon?). Aside from Ohio State, who has a manchild of their own in Greg Oden, there aren't any serious threats in the Big Ten. Wisconsin is overrated as usual, and Indiana is completely unpredictable. I predict Ohio State beats Indiana in the final by forfeit because Greg Oden eats all of Indiana's players. Think I'm joking? Just wait.

If the SEC didn't have Florida, I wouldn't be writing about it in this article. The only other team worth mention is Tennessee because they have been playing very well down the final stretch of the season and have a player named Chris Lofton who will be the difference between winning a few games and going out early in the tournament. Florida has been very inconsistent, but they are very experienced. Too bad they are also very cocky and lose to a hungry Tennessee team in the conference tournament.
