IM Basketball Preview: Mother Alpha and Delts on top; everyone else take a seat

With the football season over, March Madness looming, and no one really watching the NBA until the playoffs start, the W&L sports fan is in dire need of something to root for (apologies to college baseball, which is just beginning, and professional hockey, which isn't a sport). Thankfully, IM Basketball is right around the corner. By far the most intense IM sport played at W&L, numerous frat-letes have been seen in the gym working on their game, honing their skills, or just trying to get in shape. Below are a few teams and miscellaneous things to watch for this upcoming season:
The Delt - Will the Delt live up to expectations and make the Finals this year? With former Generals players Coleman Lyons and Palmer Dobbs starring and Hansen Babington holding down the middle, Phi Delt has a formidable squad, considered by many to be this year's favorites. Having both an athletic backcourt and frontcourt, look for the Delt to apply heavy ball pressure and try to fast break and score in the open court.
The Order - Will KA rebound from their close Finals loss last year to the Faculty despite losing David Will and Ryan Flynn to graduation? My prediction is, in short, yes. Although they will be playing a different style of ball, Mother Alpha still puts David Mitchell, Tim Vacek, and Colton Braud (yours truly) on the court. What frat-stars will fill the void created by graduation? Look for a pledge or two to step up (they will remain nameless because, c'mon, they're just pledges), along with Tommy Matteo, to form a surprisingly effective supporting cast.
The Faculty - The defending champions. Last year they were led by the behemoth Asst. Coach Kadlubowski, the equally as strong Coach Snyder, and the sharp-shooting former player Professor Casey. With the departure of Kad, the old men have a gaping hole to fill in the middle. New Assistant Coach Stuart Pradia should soften the blow with his slashing ability, solid jump shot, and lock down defense, but the question remains: who will patrol the paint? Rumors are swirling that Adam Hutchison and Bry Sny will not play this season, leaving the team a little thin. If Snyder, the guy who really makes this team go, doesn't participate, the Faculty better prepare themselves for a long, loss-filled season.
