You probably didn't notice I was gone

Guess who's back? After a brief suspension from the Trident for using inappropriate language in a staff email, I've returned to offer some thoughts on recent events in my life, and nationwide.

Colts Win Super Bowl XLI

I don't see how anyone can be surprised by this. Yes, the AFC was light years ahead of the NFC this season, but the real reason why I knew the Colts would win is simple: They have the best starting quarterback in the NFL (maybe ever) and the Bears happened to have the worst.

Being a gambling addict, I had hoped to place some bets prior to kickoff, but failed to do so. Instead, I waited until the Bears were up 7-0 and picked off Manning in the 1st quarter to pose the question, "Anyone want to take the Bears straight up for $10?" Immediately people started jumping out of their seats to bet against Manning/Tony Dungy/Adam Vinatieri, you know, since they were down a touchdown 4 minutes into the game. Due to cash limitations I could only officially bet against two people, but needless to say I came out $20 ahead.

One other thing, did anyone else notice the announcers stroking Rex Grossman's you-know-what the entire 1st half, when he was something like 5/7 for 30 yards? They literally would not shut up about how much he had been wronged by all the "unfair criticism" over the last two weeks. I leaned over and said to my housemate Kevin Donovan, "Do they honestly believe that Grossman is not going to throw a terrible interception that costs the Bears the game? Because I guarantee it's going to happen." It did.

Best KD Mixer Ever

So there I was, sitting on the couch, taking some shots and minding my own business on a relatively quiet Saturday night at 9 Tucker. And to my surprise, an enormous wave of Kappa Delta coeds strolled in to crash our party. I would later find out that it was, in fact, a "mixer," but at a moment I was quite startled.

What would ensue was more or less a 6th grade party: guys in one room, girls in another, and little to no actual "mixing." I'm sure the KD's are really nice girls, but unfortunately I wouldn't know because I never left the couch to talk to any of them. Thank heavens for Chrissie Bortner, who was the lone intermediary between FIJI and KD now that Lisa Leonard is abroad.
