The Washington and Lee wrestling team was back in action this past Saturday wrestling three conference matches at the Kings Point Quadrangular meet. The Generals faced off against Kings Point, Stevens Tech, and rival McDaniel. The team continued its season's semi-success posting another 2-1 weekend improving their overall dual record to 4-2 and their centennial conference record to 3-1. Only two individuals, Robert Terrin and Peter Lawrence, went undefeated this weekend displaying the overall team effort that was needed for the team to pull out wins.

The Generals first defeated Stevens Tech 30-11. Winning seven out of the ten individual matches, a pin by Peter Lawrence and two forfeits at the 174 and 197 pound weight-classes enabled the Generals to rack up big points. One of the most exciting matches of the dual-meet was between heavyweight John Christopher of W&L and Will Young of Stevens Tech. For the majority of the match the score was tied, however; with little time left, JC earned the wining takedown. Although this match came at the end of the dual and the win had already been secured, it was symbolic of the General's determination. The second dual-meet of the afternoon was against Kings Point. A usually weaker program, this year's Kings Point team seemingly came out of nowhere to go undefeated this weekend. The dual between W&L and Kings Point was really close, with each team wining five of the ten individual matches. Washington and Lee had strong performances from David Shubick, Rob Terrin, and Anthony Boniello, but the Kings Point team really turned up the intensity in the upper weight classes. Initially, the Generals held the lead, but by winning three of the last four matches including one by pin, the Mariners were victorious. The final score of the match was 23-16 in favor of Kings Point.

The Generals did not let the hard fought loss get them down. They used the loss as fuel to dominate centennial conference powerhouse McDaniel 29-12. Once again winning seven out of the ten individual matches, the team simply never stopped fighting. Sammy Brusca came back to win his match 13-6 after trailing 6-3 in the first period. Robert Terrin, Peter Lawrence, Anthony Boniello, and Jesse Sataloff all won strong matches to keep the momentum rolling in W&L's favor. Overall, the weekend of wrestling was another stepping stone on the wrestling team's track to the centennial championship. However, the team's most difficult challenges will be facing off against Muhlenberg and Ursinus (the conference's current top dogs) on February 3rd.
