The Generals Swim Team returned to action on Saturday. After two grueling weeks of training in Key Largo, the Generals were back in Lexington and eager to see how their hard work paid off. The team traveled to Wingate and split the decision. The women lost 168-93 but had very strong swims. Lindsey Strachan won the 200 backstroke and took second in the 100 back and the 500 freestyle. Jess Shaw, Sarah Simpson and Susan Mahoney also finished second in the 1000 free and 200 breaststroke, 200 freestyle, and 400 IM respectively.

The men won a close 148-114 contest. They men enjoyed a 1-2-3 finish from the sophmore trio of Paul Crook, Brett Tatman, and Chris Diebold in the 200 freestyle. They also picked up victories from Mike Ginder in the 100 and 200 backstrokes, and Kevin Hayes in the 200 breaststoke. The Generals also got 1-2 finishes from Winston Stagg and Josh Gonzalez in the 200 fly, in the 50 free with Tim McGlaston and Dave Croushore, the 100 free with McGlaston and Sweet taking the honors and the 200 freestyle relay.

Coach Shinofield was pleased with results from both sides. He admitted that the performance was not the best, but it was good enough to get the job done. He reminded the teams that it is all part of preparation for the end of the season.
