BEST WEEK EVER: Two weeks in and we're all out

Emily Bisso

Issue date: 1/18/06 Section: Distractions
5. Gym etiquette

Ok, this just needs to come out now - if you sweat, which, I mean, you should in a gym - wipe off the machine. That's what those little towels are THERE for.

6. Delayed Rush

I'm sure there were reasons, but again, the racking hangover because of our impending return to school or the ungodly date of January 2 for, this time, nothing more than rush PREPARATION-was pretty pathetic. Not to mention that now we faced two whole weeks of awkwardness instead of just one. Incredible.

7. Facebook out of control

Ok, the facebook was fun, but now there are all these crazy things like "social timeline" and "friend details." Enough is enough. And has anyone noticed those creepy one-liners at the bottom of the page? Check those out...and then get counseling.

UPGRADE/DOWNGRADE: School's Verdict on MLK Day

Um, so apparently I heard that Martin Luther King day was a national holiday. It's in my calendar as…wait…Martin Luther King Day. No, really, I'm looking at it right now. Maybe I should Google it and make sure it's…yep, national holiday. So explain this to me, W&L - you get up in arms when people protest that the school is full of "conservative, ignorant Southerners," but, when the whole country celebrates MLK instead of Lee-Jackson day, you decide to take the road less traveled and stick with Lee-Jackson Day? It's not like we don't have time to take off, considering class-18 blizzards don't even close the freaking school. I think we should get MLK day off, like the rest of the United States.

HUGE DOWNGRADE

BEST WEEK EVER: Freshmen Boys

Well well well. Freshmen boys, you had it great first semester - everyone bowed at your feet. So it's pretty fitting that your last week of freedom this side of April - last week - means that you get best week ever this week.

You got wined and dined on rush nights, you forgot what sober meant on Saturday, and now...now it is different. Just wait until you're a sophomore.
